Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager

Fraunhofer USA, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit research and development organization that provides contract research and development for government and industry customers. The Headquarters Office of Fraunhofer USA, Inc. located in Plymouth, Michigan seeks to fill the position of Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager (CCMM). The CCMM will be responsible for defining and implementing the overall corporate communications and marketing strategy and execution in a research and development environment. This individual will be a self-starter, able to work autonomously, and possess high energy and enthusiasm. This highly productive professional must possess excellent communications capabilities to promote brand awareness and facilitate excellent internal and external communication. The Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager reports to the Director of Human Resources and Central Services.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications Planning

  • Develop marketing and communications strategy (goals aligned with Fraunhofer brand, roadmapping, budgets and timelines)
  • Implement and execute plans

Corporate Marketing and Outside Facing Communications

  • Continually develop, update, a base) digital assets for content use
  • Track, support and document public involvement of business units (speakers, keynotes, events)
  • Support Workshops/Seminars/Trade shows for business units: work with the business development team, provide assistance with assets such as visuals, booth material, event planning software, run booths at tradeshows, analyze event yields etc.
  • Develop, design, layout and publish annual corporate report “Fraunhofer Focus”
  • Respond to centrally received customer inquiries
  • Monitor and ensure the use of corporate design by business units
  • Develop and distribute sanctioned verbiage for public use at all business units

Internal Communications and Reporting

  • Continually develop, update, and maintain internal SharePoint site (Employee Intranet)
  • Communicate with principal investigators and business unit managers to obtain and/or develop marketing relevant information and materials
  • Monitor world wide web communication that mentions the organization
  • Internal meetings: collect, create, and communicate materials needed for internal meetings, such as board meetings, Center Director meetings etc.
  • Schedule, set up, and run internal virtual meetings as directed, including creation and distribution of meeting minutes (agenda, participants, action points, summary)

Education and Experience:

5+ years of relevant corporate communications and marketing experience

Degree in Communications, Business Management (Marketing), Information Management, Graphic

Design and Marketing, or similar, relevant, equivalent experience. Excellent command of SharePoint and ability to learn how to use of a variety of software. Excellent spoken and written command of English, able to write original content and editing ability.

Accountant

Fraunhofer USA, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit research and development organization that provides contract research and development for government and industry customers. The Headquarters Office of Fraunhofer USA, Inc. located in Plymouth, Michigan seeks to fill the position of an Accountant working in the Finance & Project Administration Department. This is a hands-on position with the benefit of providing accounting experience to the right candidate in a variety of tasks in the accounting cycle. The ideal candidate will be a collaborator that is eager to learn from an established team of experienced personnel. The Accountant reports to the Controller.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Process Accounts Payable: credit card charges, employee expense reports and other
  • Monitor Cash Inflows:  post cash receipts daily, manage collection efforts for all accounts over 60 days due, prepare monthly Cash Analysis Report
  • Manage Fixed Assets:  set up and dispose fixed assets in the ERP system, process monthly depreciation, oversee and coordinate the annual inventory, prepare annual Personal Property Tax Returns
  • Reconcile, document, and analyze balance sheet accounts for discrepancies to ensure reliable month end and year end closing
  • Respond to financial inquiries, both internally and externally
  • Semi-Annual Forecasts: Analyze indirect costs incurred to date against the approved budget and forecast [LF1] for multiple locations. Requires consideration of activities to date, upcoming strategic plans, and communications with center leadership
  • Annual Budgets: Analyze indirect costs for the prior year and use them as a basis to create budgets for the upcoming year. Requires consideration of activities to date, upcoming strategic plans, and communications with center leadership
  • Month end and Year end close:  as part of a team, ensure timelines are met to complete financial closings including balance sheet account reconciliations and adjustments
  • Create and provide audit schedules for areas under the responsibility of the accountant and provide requested data
  • Cross train within the department to learn new tasks and gain varied experience
  • Other duties as needed by the department

Other Duties:

  • Assists Treasurer, Controller and other HQ Departments as needed
  • Review and confirm business processes are followed under the established rules and regulations of the corporation

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple job tasks with competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative, and deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within the organization
  • Ability to work independently under the guidance of the Controller and other team members within the department

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with ERP Systems and SharePoint
  • Ideal candidate will have 2-5 years related experience
