Part Time Marketing Manager

Major Job Responsibilities:

·         Develop and execute marketing and public relations initiatives to promote Fraunhofer CEI and its R&D services to various client and stakeholder groups, based on broad directives from the executive  team

·         Support organizational leaders in developing marketing strategies to support business development, research, operational and financial growth goals

·         Contribute with writing original content to deliverables that may include collateral, presentations, press releases, scripts, articles, market research, speaker abstracts, etc.

·         Design marketing collateral, PowerPoint presentations, and other marketing pieces, as required

·         Maintain and continuously improve the Fraunhofer CEI online presence including web site and blog

·         Create program calendars, brainstorm themes, and manage day-to-day deliverables that can include campaign emails, scripts, social media posts, and blog posts

·         Track metrics and analyze progress and success of programs with the goal of continual improvement

·         Maintain and develop Fraunhofer CEI marketing and media lists

·         Manage events and special projects which serve the Center’s marketing needs

·         Manage outside vendors, as necessary

·         Act as first point of contact for media inquiries for Fraunhofer CEI and coordinate with our clients’ and stakeholders’ marketing professionals

·         Coordinate PR and marketing initiatives with our German partners

·         Analyze project budgets and expenditures

·         Additional duties as assigned

Required Skills:

·         Ability to build strong relationships with scientists and engineers, business and political stakeholders at all levels

·         Exceptional written and verbal communications

·         Creativity, initiative and ability to work effectively under deadlines

·         Ability to multi-task and manage timelines with a constant awareness of negotiating deadlines and priorities

·         Ability to take complex and technical issues and turn them into easy-to-understand stories and narratives across various media platforms

·         Familiarity with social media, blogging, photo sharing and web applications

Required Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related field of study

·         Experience in marketing and public relations and proven capability to efficiently organize and execute PR and marketing initiatives

·         Experience in STEM R&D environments is a plus

Director of Business Development

Major Job Responsibilities:

•       Discovers, explores, develops, defines, proposes, and captures new third-party projects

•       Networks with, fosters, and maintains business relationships to form strategic and tactical partnerships with the Center

•       Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements and terms and conditions, collaborating with Center technical staff and business operations

•       Conducts research related to identifying and analyzing possible new business opportunities; stays abreast of trends and market needs

•       Represents the Center in various venues, such as professional organizations, meetings, conferences, and industry events to identify trendsetter ideas, build partnerships, and identify business opportunities

•       Mentors project staff in business development techniques to fully leverage existing customer opportunities

Required Skills:

Required Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in a technical subject or MBA preferred

·         Sales experience is a plus

Post-doctoral Scientist – Membrane Technology

Job Description

The Fraunhofer USA Center for Energy Innovation seeks a full time post-doctoral researcher to conduct work in the field of membrane separations.  

-          Develop scientific ideas and project ideas that are within Center and IKTS capabilities

-          Develop solutions to client projects

-          Write proposals to funding agencies to fund projects

-          Manage research projects for the Center

-          Mentor students working in the Center

-          Write papers intended for publishing in referred journals

-          Be able to test membranes in a variety of capacities (liquid and gas separations)

-          Run projects for clients

-          Prepare project reports

-          Prepare and analyze data

-          Assist with lab maintenance and sample testing

-          Interact professionally with clients regarding projects

-          Attend weekly staff meetings

-          Attend conferences and vendor shows on occasion

Required skills and experience

-          PhD in Engineering, Math, or Science

-          Previous experience with membrane separations testing

-          Previous experience with membrane fabrication

-          Previous experience with membrane testing

-          Previous experience writing papers and presenting work at national and international conferences

-          Strong verbal communication skills

-          Strong written communication skills

Preferred skills and experience

-          Previous experience with module and pilot-scale membrane testing

-          Proposal writing experience

-          Previous experience with one or more of the following:  UF, NF, RO, MD, pervaporation, gas separations, vapor permeation

Technician

·         Run client projects for the Center

·         Test membrane in a variety of capacities (liquid and gas separations)

·         Assemble and maintain equipment

·         Develop SOPs for equipment

·         Prepare and analyze data

·         Travel to clients on occasion

·         Interact professionally with clients regarding projects

·         Assist with lab maintenance and sample testing

·         Attend staff meetings

·         Ensure the Fraunhofer labs are clean, presentable and in good working order at all times

Required Skills:

·         Relevant associate degree, completion of relevant accredited training program through a trade association, or relevant experience

·         Assist in the daily management of research activities in the lab and ensure the Fraunhofer labs are clean, presentable and in good working order at all times

·          Interact professionally with clients regarding projects

Required Skills:
