Congressional Staff tour CCD’s diamond research facility

Every two years, the three member institutions of the University Research Corridor (Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Wayne State University) host a group of about ten Congressional staff on a three-day tour of the federally funded research being done on the respective campuses. In the current climate of tight federal budgets reinforcing the vital role of federally-funded research, such as the research conducted at the Fraunhofer USA Center for Coating and Diamond Technologies, in both innovation and economic development is critical. Thirteen congressional staff and six federal relations officers toured CCD getting an inside look at how federal funding allows the center to drive technological research.
