Fraunhofer USA
Fraunhofer USA, Inc., performs applied research under contract to government and industry with customers such as federal and state governments, multinational corporations as well as small to medium-sized companies.
Fraunhofer USA is a subsidiary of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, a world leading applied R&D organization which has 66 institutes and independent research units throughout Germany. Fraunhofer Gesellschaft has an annual research budget of €1.9 billion. The majority of the 22,000 staff are qualified scientists and engineers.
Each Fraunhofer USA research center is closely affiliated with at least one of the 66 Institutes in Germany. They also cooperate closely with major research universities in the USA; University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Maryland, University of Delaware, Boston University, and the Massachusette Institute for Technology.
