Fraunhofer USA, Inc., as part
of our parent company, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, performs
applied research. Our research is done under contract to
government and industry with customers such as federal and
state governments, multinational corporations as well as small
to medium-sized companies. Fraunhofer’s research benefits
society in many ways.
Fraunhofer USA is a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft which
maintains over 80 research units at more than 40 different
locations throughout Germany. A staff of some 12,700,
qualified scientists and engineers, works with an annual
research budget of over one billion euros. Each Fraunhofer USA
research center is closely affiliated with at least one of the
57 Fraunhofer Institutes. They also cooperate closely with
major universities.
