The Fraunhofer Center for Experimental Software Engineering in Maryland has been awarded the Group Achievement Award for their outstanding effort in enabling NASA's Office of Safety and Mission Assurance (OSMA) Software Assurance Research Program to advance the state of software assurance practice and provide immediate value to NASA missions.
According to a representative from NASA, the reach and impact of the Software Assurance Research Program (SARP) has increased in spite of the 27% budget decrease since FY07. The individual team members approached their work in the spirit of collaboration to achieve NASA's mission and consistently put the best interest of the missions and the Agency first.
Software research is not as flashy as a new rocket, but improved software assurance will offer better odds that the rocket will get where it’s supposed to go. Undeterred by shrinking budgets, the SARP team has embodied NASA’s values as they have transformed the SARP into an action-based research program delivering tangible value to missions and enhancing state of the practice. For these reasons and for continued commitment to enhanced mission success through more effective and efficient software assurance, the members of the Software Assurance Research Program are exceptionally deserving of the NASA Group Achievement Award.
