About the
Position:
This is
an opportunity to work
with one of the world's

Principal
responsibilities:
Analyzing and
evaluating the
energy savings
potential, current
and future
economics,
commercialization-related
drivers and
barriers, and
research and
development
priorities for a
wide range of
building
technologies.
Modeling the end-use
specific,
whole-building, and
national energy
impact of advanced
building
technologies.
Characterizing the
energy consumption
of building
equipment and
systems.
Required Experience and
Education:
Experience assessing
the energy savings
potential, current
and future
economics,
commercialization-related
pros and cons, and
research and
development
priorities of
building
technologies.
Sound understanding
of the energy
consumption
characteristics and
drivers of major
residential end
uses.
General interest and
curiosity in a
variety of
technologies, the
practical use of the
systems and ability
to deal with some
uncertainty.
Thorough
understanding of the
physical and
operational
principles that
drive energy
consumption of major
building end uses; a
deeper understanding
of building envelope
technologies and/or
electronic devices
is preferred.
Should have
excellent writing
skills.
Familiarity with a
wide range of
energy-saving
technologies in
residences.
Experience modeling
the end-use specific
and whole-building
energy impact of
various energy
efficiency measures.
Experience applying
models to assess the
national impact of
energy efficiency
measures.
Advanced degree in
Civil, Mechanical
Engineering,
Architectural
Engineering,
Physics, Applied
Physics or
Electrical
Engineering
preferred.

Process Improvement
Specialist
The Fraunhofer Center
for Experimental
Software Engineering,
Maryland is seeking
qualified professionals
to join our technical
staff. Qualified
candidates will support
and/or manage
customer-oriented
process improvement
projects. Activities may
include:
Organizational
change assistance
such as educating
and coaching
executives, senior management,
process improvement
staff, and practitioners
and planning and
implementing improvement
projects.
Process definition and
modeling
such as providing model
interpretations (e.g.,
CMMI, ISO, and Lean Six
Sigma), applying models
to a specific context,
defining
organizational-specific
policies, procedures,
guidelines, and project
tailoring processes.
Training program
implementation
such as designing
training materials,
coordinating and
implementing programs,
and facilitating
experience sharing among
participating
organizations.
Appraisal support
such as designing,
conducting, leading, and
participating in various
types of appraisals,
such as gap analyses,
readiness reviews,
internal assessments,
validation audits and
formal appraisals.
Outreach and Customer
services
such as interacting with
organizational partners,
including high
technology councils,
universities, and other
business groups,
establishing and
fostering customer
relationships, and
publishing improvement
experiences in
appropriate journals and
conferences.
Requirements
Qualified candidates
will have at least five
(5) years of software
development-related
experience,
knowledge and
familiarity with
software process
improvement and business
re-engineering methods
and models. Experience
in both government and
commercial sectors is
desired. Successful
candidates will have
strong written and
verbal communication
skills, the ability to
deal with external
customers, including
high level executives,
and an interest in
assisting organizations
in improving their
business. Willingness to
commute to various
customer sites within
the Baltimore/Washington
metropolitan area, as
needed. Minimum Bachelor
degree in applicable
discipline required.
